FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT YACHT & BLUE CRUISE

What do you need to bring ?

Casual clothes, plenty of swimvear and some warm clothing for the evenings, particularly if you are travelling towards the beginning or end of the season. Comfortable walking shoes, deck shoes, extra swimwear, towels, sunglasses, suncream. It is advisable to keep luggage to a minimum as storage space is limited, and soft bags are more practical than rigid suitcases. Do not bother to pack electric items, as there are no electricity sockets on a gulet. Please note shoes are not to be worn on board at all.

Do the cabins have air-conditioning ?

Most of our deluxe gulets have centrally controlled air-conditioning, which will normally operate before dinner and in the evenings in hot weather. When moored in a harbour, which could be up to 3 or 4 days of a one-week cruise, the air-conditioning has to be switched off due to local environmental regulations and air-conditioning will not operate through the night for safety reasons. We would ask guests, therefore to be flexible regarding air-conditioning.

What are the toilets like ?

Toilets are flushed manually by a hand pump system at the side of the toilet. All toilet paper etc. must be placed in the waste paper bin provided by the toilet, if not the narrow pipes and filters will block. The crew will empty this bin daily.

Can you smoke on board ?

Smoking is strictly prohibited in the cabins due to safety reasons, however smoking is permitted on deck.

Can you hire a Gulet solely for the use of your party, to make sure you have it for yourselves ?

If you fancy taking a whole boat for the private, exclusive use of your family or group of friends, we offer you the opportunity of chartering your own de luxe gulet, at prices that can work out surprisingly affordable. This allows you to choose your travelling companions, your own preferred itinerary together with the captain’s agreement, and because your party has exclusive use of the boat, there’s no reason why you can’t take the younger members of your family.

What if you get seasick ?

Most of your time on the gulet will be spent on the fore or aft deck. Because you are always in full view of the horizon, your body, even if susceptible to seasickness, is unlikely to feel queasy because your vision is in full coordination with its surroundings. However, are excellent seasickness remedies available on board, either in the form of a patch applied to the skin or a pill should you feel a tinge of nausea.

How often will you actually sail with no engine power ?

The sun in Turkey is especially strong, and therefore a good suncream or blocking lotion or cream is mandatory. Avoid oily, greasy applications, which are slippery and pose a danger on board. To continue your protection, bring along after-sun lotions or skin softeners.
